Award Winners Featured at CARA Fashion Show

 
Indianapolis, IN April 25, 2008 - Whether it is a Dancing With the Stars winner, a member of the International Motorsports Hall of Fame, a recipient of the Distinguished Service Citation from the Automotive Hall of Fame, or a champion dedicated to raising funds and awareness of all forms of spinal cord-related paralysis, all will be found at the 27th annual CARA Charities Fashion Show and Luncheon.
 
The downtown Indianapolis Marriott will be the setting for this spectacular event on Thursday, May 22. Dancing With the Stars champion Helio Castroneves will be on hand to receive the key to the city of Indianapolis from first lady Winnie Ballard, as well as the Honorary Hoosier award from Indianas first lady Cheri Daniels. The two-time Indy winner will collect some more hardware to go with his mirror ball trophy and his baby Borgs.
 
Janet Guthrie, a member of the newest class of inductees to the International Motorsports Hall of Fame will join Lyn St. James, recipient of the Distinguished Service Citation from the Automotive Hall of Fame as special honorees at the event. Lyn will be accompanied by several of her Women in the Women's Circle drivers.
 
Cody Unser, daughter and granddaughter of Indy 500 winners, will be honored for her continuing efforts to raise research funds to fight paralysis and to build awareness of Transverse Myelitis through her First Step Foundation. Accompanying Cody will be several model kids from Riley Hospital for Children.
 
The show will feature racing and media personalities, and community leaders, as well as a few surprises. All will be decked out in fashions provided by The Secret Ingredient, Raleigh Limited Men's Clothier, and Teeter Totter Children's Wear.
 
Proceeds from the event will be shared with partner Riley Hospital for Children, the Cody Unser First Step Foundation and CARA Charities Buckle Up Baby program.
 
The highly popular show starts with an 11:30 a.m. social hour followed by the luncheon at 12:30. The fashion show begins at 1:30. Tickets are $75 and can be purchased through the CARA Charities office: 317- 299-2277 or at www.caracharities.org. Sponsorship opportunities are still available.
 
Last years show raised over $70,000 for local and national charities. Assisted by the support of sponsors, teams, drivers, members and race fans, CARA has donated more than $4 million dollars since their founding more than a quarter of a century ago. CARA focuses on helping children, hospitals, scholarship funds and ministries as well as charitable foundations assisting children.
